entry for an illustration competition / aranyvackor pályázat

i've participated in a hungarian illustration competition. the prompt was: town and we had to write (or just illustrate) a tale about that. i wrote a little tale with a cat who is watching the town, people and traffic everyday and we can see the whole happening through her eyes. that was the reason why i needed so many sketches about cats :) there are three double pages with text.

  6. Yes, the very best of luck in the competition... these 3 are great spreads are must surely capture the judges attention! I especially like the top (great layout and characters) and middle ones (love the palette and painting). Keep us posted!
Ta for the comment... I had a look at some painting elephants on youtube. It's an interesting performance but I agree I'd rather see paintings OF than paintings BY. To me it seems like they are executing a routine they have been taught -and how are they taught it...I hope not by physical 'encouragement'...?!! I have a book about chimpanzee painting though, something which I'm fascinated by. They really do seem to want to paint for the enjoyment of it. I'd love a chimp painting!!! So Calvin = Huba & Hobbes = Kázmér ... do those names reference famous Hungarians as Calvin & Hobbes ref famous philosophers...? So glad you like them too!

thanks so much Matt! i could imagine that chimpanzees love to paint - at first minute i almost believe it about elephants too...

i'm afraid that Hungarian translation of Calvin & Hobbes was only because of their similar sounding (Calvin-Kázmér and Hobbes-Huba) well it's not so philosophic is it? :)

    thank you Sara!
